Lisa Hernandez is a partner at Bender Kurlander Hernandez & Campbell. Ms. Hernandez concentrates her practice to representing injured workers through both State of California and Longshore Act systems. Her position reflects her commitment to fighting tirelessly on behalf of those seriously injured at work—especially those who are marginalized and find it difficult to advocate for themselves. She has earned many millions of dollars for her clients, yet recognizes that no amount of money can ever compensate for the true loss suffered from accidents. Ms. Hernandez specializes in catastrophic injuries, brain injuries, and toxic exposure cases. She is President of the San Diego Chapter of California Applicants’ Attorneys Association. She is very active in the Latino Caucus and is a frequent lecturer on many subjects in the field.

Previously, Mrs. Hernandez was a Public Defender in Chicago and San Bernardino. She returned home to San Diego to practice private criminal defense, ultimately switching gears to practicing worker’s compensation law. Being a criminal defense attorney was her passion since she was little. She skillfully defended everything from death penalty cases and gang cases through delinquency and dependency cases. The transition to handling worker’s compensation cases was seamless as her skills are equally effective now in helping those who face the uncertainties of a system designed to only make money for the insurance companies.
